Creatively Made

Creatively Made

So often we lose touch with our creativity as we leave our childhood behind. Creativity just doesn't seem worthy of our grown up time and attention unless it has a practical purpose (scrapbooking, decorating, baking, etc.) or makes a profit (people pay you for it). Maybe we desperately want time to explore our creativity, yet find ourselves prioritizing everything and everyone else.

I want to give you permission (not that you need it) to prioritize your creativity. Be creative simply for the joy and pleasure it brings. Forget about being productive, practical, or perfect. Just play. Make a mess. Eliminate any expectations of creating something "good" or "beautiful" and notice how good and beautiful it FEELS. Creativity feels good and beautiful because it IS. It's in your DNA. You were made in the image of the creator God whose own creativity matters so much, it's the very first thing he tells us about himself in the Bible.

"In the beginning God created.."

My friend, you are creatively made and made to be creative. Don't set it aside like fine china. Use it like your favorite mug, the one you reach for everyday. Your creativity is a gift that's meant to be used. The more you use it the more joy it brings. So dust off your favorite creative supplies this weekend and play. Then come back here and tell me all about it. I'd love to hear from you!
